The Warehouse

[03/14/16] It’s finally spring break! Pami and I met up on Monday to hang out again, and went to The Warehouse for brunch. (What a coincidence that the previous post was also with Pami.. hehe)

The Warehouse is a pub with multiple locations- I visited the one on Granville St. Everything here on the menu is $4.95, and being your typical jobless, broke teenager, what a great deal is that!?Β πŸ˜› I’ve passed by a couple of times at night, and there’s usually a huge line trailing out. But since Pami and I came on a Monday during lunch time, there wasn’t a wait

The restaurant was dark and mysterious. There are tables right when you walk in, and beside the long bar, is an elevated platform with more seats.

The Food

As I mentioned, the menu items are all $4.95, and there are options to add or substitute thingsΒ available to customize your dishes.Β There is a good variety of appetizers, salads, pastas, tortilla dishes, burgers and even desserts.

Pami and I both ordered from the “In Between Bread” section. The plates are served with fries, organic greens or soup, and with an addition of $1.95 you can upgrade your side to a poutine, caesar salad, onion rings or yam fries

The Works Burger w/ Poutine ($4.95, + $1.95)

premium alberta beef, maple bacon, cheddar, crispy onion, macho sauce, shredded lettuce + tomato on a toasted brioche bun

Pami really enjoyed her burger! She was especially surprised of the quality of meat considering the price. The poutine was also pretty good. However, the fries could’ve been a little crispier. (4/5)

Grilled Cheese w/ Organic Greens ($4.95)

cranberry sourdough, cheddar, parmesan & goat cheese, tomato, fresh basil

I was craving something cheesy, and was stuck between their grilled cheese and crispy mac n cheese. In the end, I went for the grilled cheese because it came with some greens which I thought would balance out the richness.

Anyways, the grilled cheese was so delicious, and probably one of the best I’ve had! The cheese was gooey and melty, and I love the inclusion of tomato and basil. I love the tart, juicy bites of cranberries in the sourdough as well, and the crispy layer of parmesan coated on the bread completes the sandwich. Every bite was crunchy and cheesy. The salad was just a mix of romaine, tomatoes and cucumbers, with a balsamic dressing. (5/5)

Final Thoughts

We were both pleasantly surprised with The Warehouse. Since we were just looking for cheap eats, we really didn’t expect much of the dishes. However, they tasted a lot better than we imagined, and is definitely worth more than the price. Without doubt, I would recommend this place.. whether or not you’re on budget!

    • Yes totally! But if you remember about my cheese problem.. I can never finish it at home! Not to mention buying multiple types of cheeses. D:
