Lost + Found Cafe

[12/28/15] During the winter break (I know, I’m so behind!), my friend Pami and I got together. We go to different schools now so we wanted to go to a cozy cafe to eat, chat and catch up. So, we visited Lost + Found Cafe.

The Restaurant

Lost + Found is located on the busy W. Hastings in Gastown. The outside is unpretentious but once you enter, the cafe is quite large and spacious. Inspired by art, travel and philanthropy, the cafe is simple, dark and almost mysterious and hipster vibe, while surrounded by displays of artworks.

Towards the entrance, are tables with brighter lighting from the sun,  and at the back of the venue are cozy couches and a large screen projecting films.

The Food

Like most cafes, the menu includes a variety of coffee, sandwiches, salads, and freshly baked goods. We each went for a sandwich combo, with comes with a side salad or soup.

Stacked Veg with Salad ($9, +$1)

Grilled peppers, avocado, cucumber, sprouts and spinach on wholewheat bread with a garlic sun-dried tomato spread.

img_9056I enjoyed this simple sandwich. The multigrain bread was toasted nicely to a crunch, and there was a great variety of veggies inside, including alfafa sprouts which I thought was quite unique. However, I don’t think the bell peppers were roasted enough, it was still rather raw and crunchy. (4/5)

The salad consists of lettuce, carrots, and cheese. It wasn’t anything special, but I wish I had asked for balsamic dressing on the side because it was completely drenched in it. (3/5)

Chicken Sandwich with Daily Soup ($9, +$1)

Your choice of freshly baked bread, spread with pesto aioli and layered with sliced chicken, tomato and spinach.

My friend liked her sandwich as well. She picked to have it on their housemade cheddar garlic onion bun, which she found delicious! (3.5/5)

The soup of the day was a white bean veggie soup. She thought it needed more salt, since it tasted very “healthy” and bland. (3/5)

Chocolate Chip Cookie

The staff was nice enough to give us a complementary cookie for the wait. Although, it wasn’t even for that long- probably no more than 10 minutes haha.. The cookie was gigantic, the size of the entire plate! It was soft and chewy, with lots of chocolate chips inside. Definitely satisfies the sweet tooth. (3.5/5)

Final Thoughts

Lost + Found is a very unique spot for friends and family to visit and chat. It does seem like it gets busy but even so, there’s room to accommodate lots of people. The large, open space is also great for studying!

{1- Terrible :: 2- Poor :: 3- Average :: 4- Good :: 5- Excellent}

Food: 3.5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Value: 4/5 | Ambiance: 5/5

Overall: 4/5
