Summer 2015: Ottawa

Today’s post on Ottawa will be a short one because it was a one day trip. Mama Rae and I took the bus from Montreal in the morning of the second day, and we made it back in time for dinner. It was a super hot day but we managed to stroll through downtown Ottawa and hit every destination on our list!

Lunch at Bier Markt

We were in Ottawa on a Saturday, which means.. brunch time! Haha just kidding, we already ate breakfast. Anyways, we passed by Bier Markt on our way to Parliament Hill, and it seemed to be quite a popular spot so we decided to sit down to share a meal.
Bier Markt is a German bar, which I didn’t really realize until I saw the menu. Otherwise, I would’ve chosen a different placeΒ because all I think about when I think of German food is like, sausages.. and we all know how I love my veggies! πŸ˜› Like most other patrons, we enjoyed our meal on this beautiful day out inΒ the patio.

Brioche French Toast (2.5/5)

two sunny side up eggs, roasted pepper & onion sausage, warm maple syrup, preserved fruit compote

I was a little disappointed when this came.. the 4 slices of French toasts seemed limp and puny, and textureΒ wise, it was ratherΒ soggy.. I think I can make better French toast to be honest.Β They also forgotΒ the fruit compote, so I had to ask them for it. On the bright side, the sunny side ups were done well, and the sausage was juicy and flavourful. I just don’t think the meal wasΒ worth the price though.

Service was kind of slow, but I guess understandable with the crowd.

Overall: 2.5/5
