Checked off my list! (Pt. III/III)

And last but not least.. Part 3! There’s Part 1 and Part 2 if you haven’t seen them already- this is basically a collection of restaurants I’ve visited before I created this blog and wanted to share with you. I’ve actually kinda forgotten about this, in the midst of all my other reviews and posts haha, but here we go..

Part 3: The Flying Pig, Gorilla Food, Trees Organic Coffee, Sushi Garden, Tealips

———-

The Flying Pig

Came here on Mother’s Day with Mama Rae, and we loved the food here! We ordered the daily specials (some sort of hash and a frittata, don’t exactly remember..) as well as a salmon sampler plate. There was complementary banana bread, which tasted amazing too. This place was super busy, and we can totally see why.

Overall

Food: 8.5/10
Service: 8.5/10
Value: 8/10
Ambiance: 7/10
Total: 8/ 10

Gorilla Food

Gorilla Food was one of the most unique places I’ve been to. They serve up all raw vegan food- not only is it beneficial to the body, but the taste is just as good. Also, it’s located in sort of an underground, cave-like setting.. do gorillas live in caves..? xD I went with Naomi and we tried one of the more popular choices, the Pesto Pizza, along with the Southwestern Burger. They were both very flavourful, and the “patty” in the burger had a pretty interesting resemblance to actual meat. You would think that vegan meals aren’t very satisfying, because they’re “all vegetables” and stuff. But no, we were pretty full afterwards. Dang, I wanted dessert too. Will definitely come back for some raw vegan cakes!

Overall

Food: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Value: 8/10
Ambiance: 10/10
Total: 9/10

Trees Organic Coffee

Cheesecakes are on the top of my list when it comes to desserts, so I had to come to Trees Organic because they claim to have the “best cheesecake in Vancouver”. I tried the Mango Cheesecake, and my friend got the Chocoholic. Unfortunately, the cake wasn’t quite set, but it appeared that it was just my slice, because I tried some of the chocolate on and that was fine. It was a miss for me, especially for $7 per slice. I mean, the taste was fine, but the texture was really off. It felt more like a mousse cake than a cheesecake to me.. The coffee was good though. I wish I had a picture but they had a really cool spot where you sit on the windowpane, it was fun haha.

Overall

Food: 7/10
Service: 8/10
Value: 7/10
Ambiance: 9/10
Total: 7.75/10

Sushi Garden

One of the most popular sushi places in my area- good quality, for relatively reasonable prices. This place is always packed with people, and it’s pretty crazy when it hits rush hour, one of those places where you go in to get your tummy satisfied, then leave asap.. 😛 The staff there are very efficient so you always get your food fast, same with take-out, which I’ve gotten a couple of times too. The portions have definitely shrunk over time but meh.. A few of favourite things from here are the sashimi (generous slices compared to other places), chopped scallop cone, and seafood salad. But then again, everything sushi is delicious. c:

Tealips Bubble Tea & Coffee

Tealips.. perfect spot for a girl’s date! It’s definitely gotten louder since they got more notice but what can you do. I always get the matcha shaved ice (with heaps of strawberries, mangos, bananas, red bean, sliced almonds, mochis, etc topped with a scoop of vanilla icecream) and belgium waffles here with Tray, and it definitely fills us up. I always found the shaved ice too chunky, but before discovering the existence of Icy Bar in my neighbourhood, I kept coming back to here. At least the toppings are wonderful and it’s super photogenic. (; The shaved ice isn’t really worth it for the $9.5 in terms of taste.. but the waffles are pretty good. What intrigues me is the little tag they give you.. which buzzes when your order is ready. xD
